LINDA ASIM Obituary

Linda Carnell Mitchell Asim

Sunrise: October 12, 1956                                                 Sunset: May 9, 2022

Linda was born in New Port News, Virginia to the late Calvin and LaDortha Mitchell on October 12, 1956. She was the seventh of eleven siblings.  In the Bible the number seven represents completion and perfection.

Linda confessed her faith and belief in Christ at an early age and was baptized at Peter’s Rock Missionary Baptist Church in Gary, Indiana where Rev. John H. Bentley was pastor.

Linda completed her education in the Gary Community School Corporation and Davenport College of Business.

Linda believed in working but found out that it was better to be her own boss because she had a way of doing her own thing and that she did.

Linda loved her family. She gave birth to her daughter, Kenyatta who was the apple of her eye. Ten years later she gave birth to her second child, her son Jeff Tyson and ten years later she gave birth to her final child, Tyler Mitchell.  Linda adored her children and her family, even when life got in her way she held strong to her faith, her family and her belief in Christ, which never wavered.

Linda joined Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church and wanted to serve in any capacity that she could as an usher, kitchen ministry, a sister in Christ and eventually a Trustee. She enjoyed making food for the Bible study classes.

Linda loved her family and life. She had such a bubbly personality, with an infectious laugh. She believed in sharing whatever she had with anyone who needed it. If she couldn’t help you, she wouldn’t hurt you.

She was such a selfless person and wanted to help anyone in need, so much so that she formed her company God’s Helping Hands Personal Services, LLC and so successful that she created a second company AM PM Home Health because she wanted to be around the clock help.

Linda loved cooking or have someone cook and send food to all of her friends and family and she also enjoyed playing cards and the casino. But her passion was taking care of anyone who needed her in any capacity.

Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Calvin and LaDortha Mitchell; son, Jeff Tyson; her maternal and paternal grandparents, two sisters, Vernice Elaine Mitchell and Jacqueline Renee Mitchell; and two brothers, Calvin( Curtistine) Mitchell and Charles Mitchell and a host of other relatives.

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, LJ Hentson, one daughter Kenyatta Mitchell (John) and son, Tyler Mitchell, three grandchildren, Jasmine, Jacoby and John Jr.; four sisters, Montre Moore ( Lloyd) Vanessa Little ( Walter) Cynthia Grigsby ( Jerome) and Valerie Davis ( Alonzo); two brothers, Percy Mitchell( Lita) and  Ray Mitchell (Edwina); sister-in-law,  Mance “Cookie”  Mitchell; special Friends: Brenda Wallace, Veronica Hughes, Lorenzo Wallace, Lori and a host of others nieces ,nephews, cousins and friends.
