Leon E. Bridges was born on January 13, 1937, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the beloved only child of Clarence and Vivian Bridges.
He attended Indianapolis Public Schools and graduated with pride from Crispus Attucks High School. Leon confessed his faith in Christ at an early age and was a devoted member of Living Water Fellowship Church, where he joyfully served as a greeter. His warm and infectious smile brightened the Sunday morning worship experience for all who entered the sanctuary.
A dedicated family man, Leon was blessed with two children, Marlene and David, whom he cherished deeply. As a young father, he worked for Red Cab before beginning a long and fulfilling career with Chevrolet (Truck and Bus), where he faithfully served for more than 32 years. Because he loved to drive, retirement did not slow him down—Leon continued doing what he enjoyed most by working with Macy’s Trucking Company before later joining his cousin’s business, Henry Trucking. Beyond his love for driving trucks, Leon also found joy in fishing and hunting.
Leon recently married his longtime friend, Karen Cannon. Together, Leon and Karen shared a beautiful companionship marked by dining out, fishing, and traveling. Their time together brought him great happiness, and his absence will be deeply felt—especially by his wife and daughters.
Leon peacefully went to sleep in Jesus on November 23, 2025. He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Bridges; his mother, Vivian Bridges; and his previous wife, Helen Bridges.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Karen Bridges; daughters, Marlene Williams and Ahnessa Black; son, David Bridges; grandsons, Larry Dewan Williams II (Yvonne), Warrick Bridges, and Halen Bridges; granddaughter, Amanda Gray (Josh); great-grandsons, Bryce Williams, Dewan Williams, Devon Williams, Larry Williams, and Jarrett Gray; bonus son, Corey Cannon; bonus daughter, Travae Cannon; bonus grandsons, Brian Graves and Jordan Cannon; and a host of cousins, family, and dear friends who loved him.
