LEE COTTON Obituary

Lee Cotton was born on March 13, 1957 in Marks, Mississippi to Ida and Louis “Pop” Cotton.

From a young age Lee learned the value of hard work and dedication, a lesson he carried with him throughout every chapter of his life. Lee attended both primary and middle school and in 1975 graduated from Quitman County High School.

At an early age Lee accepted Jesus Christ in his life and would remain steadfast in his faith until the very end. In 1981 when Lee moved to Chicago, Illinois he become a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. After relocating to Indiana, he joined Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in 2005.

In 2002, Lee made Indianapolis, Indiana his home and in that same year he met Natasha Lynn Turner, the love of his life. They were married in Holy Matrimony on September 15, 2006, and shared 23 years of deep love, laughter, and unwavering partnership.

Lee spent over 30 years as a professional truck driver. He was more than skilled behind the wheel — he was a human atlas, with an unmatched memory for highways, back roads, and the stories that came with them. Whether crossing the country or helping someone find their way, Lee always knew the road ahead.

Beyond his work, Lee gave freely of his time and heart. He volunteered regularly at a local men’s shelter, where he offered not only meals but mentorship and hope. He served as a mentor to many young men and women, guiding them with compassion, wisdom, and the kind of calm encouragement that only Lee could offer. He was also a faithful supporter of the Angel Tree ministry, donating generously to children and families during the holiday season.

Above all, was a family man, he was a devoted husband, proud father, cherished grandfather, beloved brother and friend. His grandchildren affectionately called him Pawpaw and he found his greatest joy in spending time with his family.

Lee also enjoyed the simple, meaningful things in life — bowling, fishing, cooking meals for family and friends, and striking up conversations with just about anyone. He never met a stranger and could turn any moment into a memorable one with his warm smile and easy charm.

Lee will be remembered for his kind heart, strong spirit, and the way he made others feel heard and loved. Lee Cotton was the kind of man who left a mark wherever he went — not just on the map, but in the hearts of everyone who knew him.

Lee Cotton passed away peacefully on July 8, 2025, at the age of 68 in Brownsburg, Indiana. Preceding him in death are his parents, Ida Berry and Louis “Pop” Cotton; four brothers, Climmie Wilson, Leroy Wilson, Larry Cotton, and Louis Cotton, and two sisters, Marie Pennington and Dorothy Griffin.

He is survived by his loving wife, Natasha Turner Cotton; daughters, Tiffany Stewart and Ladria Turner; sons, Timothy Turner, Antoino Glasper, DeAndre Turner, Alex “Max” Wooden, and Bryan Wooden; three brothers, Leonard (Lydia) Cotton, Ricky (Loui) Cotton, and Robert Cotton; one sister, Lillie (Edward) Kidd; eighteen grandchildren, Donovan, Penelipe, Tamia, Travis, Timber, Tegan, Ian, Ah’Miya, Antonio, Prince’ Amir, Azaria, Nefertiti, Zya’Ahnu, Amari, Delilah, Amelia, Bentley, and DeAndre; and a wide circle of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss him dearly.
