Karell Ann Taylor, age 82, peacefully passed away at home in Indianapolis, Indiana, on January 16, 2026. Born on October 7, 1943, in Indianapolis to William Alfred Bentley and Perdetha Imogene Bentley, Karell embraced life with unwavering love and grace. She married Stephen Andrew Taylor on November 28, 1962, embarking on a beautiful partnership that lasted for 26 years until Stephen's passing 37 years ago. Following this profound loss, Karell remained a widow.
A proud graduate of Shortridge High School and IUPUI, Karell enjoyed a rewarding career as a Provider Education and Field Service Consultant at Blue Cross and Blue Shield, retiring after 25 years of dedicated service.
Karell was a long-time, devoted member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, where she earned the distinction of being an Elite Parishioner. She cherished her Bible study group and found great joy in sharing prayer shawls with family, friends, and anyone in need, exemplifying her kind-hearted spirit.
In her personal life, Karell had a zest for various hobbies, participating in Poker and Bid Whist Clubs, and relishing day and overnight trips to casinos with family and friends. She adored attending live jazz concerts and taking pleasure in cooking special dishes requested by her loved ones. Karell also had a passion for travel, exploring both national and international destinations.
As a diehard fan of the Colts and Pacers, Karell loved to celebrate her family's successes and frequently visited her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in California and Arizona. Her devotion as a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend was evident to all who knew her, and her warm spirit touched countless lives. Karell was also a proud cancer survivor, showcasing remarkable strength and resilience throughout her journey. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know and love her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen A Taylor, and daughter, Stephani A. Taylor.
Those she is survived by include her children, Kevin L Taylor (Lenora, Esq.) and Tamiko D. Taylor-Collins (Keith, J.D.); siblings, Eric J. Davidson, Sr., Tanita J. Bentley-Gillum, William A Bentley, II, and Wendy K. Bentley; grandchildren, Shaka L. Logan, Kevin L Taylor, II, Stephen M Lee, Dominiq T. Lee, Tashia N. Taylor and Christian R. Taylor, and great-grandchildren, Talasia, Kenard, Seven and Dominiq, Jr.
