Juanita Bernethia Morgan, affectionately known as “NeNe,” was born on September 27, 1958, and raised in Chicago, Illinois. She was the third oldest of six siblings and grew up surrounded by the love, laughter, and close bond of her family. Juanita shared her childhood with her brothers Dwight Grant, Alfonso Morgan, Richard Morgan, and James Morgan, and her sister Sheila Morgan.
Anyone who knew NeNe knew she was a woman who spoke her mind and never held her tongue. She was funny, sarcastic, strong-willed, and deeply loving. Family meant everything to her, and she lived by the belief that family always comes first. Juanita was a faithful and devoted child of God who would go out of her way to help anyone in need.
She was a fiercely protective and loving mother to her two sons, whom she raised to always look out for one another and stand together no matter what. While she was a devoted mother to her boys, she was also a second mother to her nieces and nephews, loving and caring for them as if they were her own.
Juanita cherished memories, especially photographs of her family, which she proudly collected and guarded with great care. Her warmth, laughter, and unmistakable presence lit up every room and every gathering, leaving lasting impressions and unforgettable memories with all who knew her.
Juanita transitioned peacefully on January 1, 2026. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love and strength that will forever live on through her two sons, Antione Morgan and Kenneth Stewart Jr.; her five beloved grandchildren; her surviving siblings; and her many nieces and nephews who adored her.
Though we mourn her passing, we also celebrate a life well lived. Juanita is now reunited in eternal peace with her siblings Alfonso, Sheila, and James Morgan, and her parents Alfonso Butler and Mamie Morgan. While she may be gone from our sight, her spirit, love, and lessons will forever remain in our hearts.
