In Loving Memory of Jonathan A. Powell-Lancaster 

On June 8, 2026, a link in our family chain was broken when Jonathan A. Powell-Lancaster departed this earthly life. Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we are grateful for the love, laughter, and memories he leaves behind. Jon was born on May 2, 1984, in Muncie, Indiana, to Alicia K. Powell and Harvey Lancaster Sr.

Jon was many things to many people. A beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend—but his most cherished role was being a father to his son, Jaylen A. Powell. He loved his son beyond measure and was immensely proud of the young man he has become. There was nothing more important to Jon than family.

He leaves to cherish his memory his son, Jaylen A. Powell; his loving parents, Alicia K. Powell and Harvey Lancaster Sr.; his sister, Alicia L. Turner (Antonio M. Turner Sr.); his brother, Harvey L. Lancaster Jr. (Savannah J. Van Why); his sister, Helen C. Lancaster (Ronald M. Cartwright Jr.); his sister Ashley N. Loy-Lancaster and his sister Christine Martin. 

Jon was a proud and devoted uncle to Antonio M. Turner Jr., Adasia M. Turner, Justin X. Wills, Jayden I. Lancaster, Amari M. Turner, Ronald A. Cartwright, Violet Kemp, Jayla A. Lancaster, Alyssa P. Powell, Harvey O. Lancaster, Olivia D. Cartwright and Zora J. Lancaster. No matter how old they became, they were always his “babies.” He loved each of them fiercely and treasured every opportunity to spend time with them.

He also leaves behind cousins he loved as siblings: Glenna R. Taylor, Glenn R. Taylor Jr., Darnell D. Taylor (Latasha R. Aikens-Taylor), and Dawn D. Taylor. In addition, he leaves a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Anyone who knew Jon knew of his unwavering love for the Indianapolis Colts. Football season was one of his favorite times of the year, and some of his fondest memories were made cheering on the Colts and watching games with his mother and his family. Win or lose, he remained a loyal fan through every season.

Jon lived life with a spirit that could not be ignored. He was often the life of the party, quick with a joke, full of energy, and able to make those around him smile. He loved deeply, laughed loudly, and gave freely of himself to the people he cared about. His love for family knew no bounds, and his presence brought warmth and joy to every gathering.

While a link in our family chain has been broken, the bond of love that connects us will never be severed. Jonathan’s legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched, the memories he created, and the family he loved so dearly.

We will carry him in our hearts always—loved beyond words, missed beyond measure, and remembered for all time.

Ceremonies to celebrate Jonathan are Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., at Stuart Mortuary with viewing from 11:00 a.m.  The family wishes to acknowledge the many acts of kindness extended to them during their time of bereavement.  God bless you and keep you, we thank you family for entrusting Jonathan into our care.
