Jerry Allen Hannon, Sr. was born on October 21, 1952, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the son of the late Cornelius Hannon and Betty Cushingberry Hannon Doyle.
Jerry professed a hope in Christ at an early age and was baptized at Bethany Missionary Baptist Church. In later years, he united with God’s Grace Community Church, where his faith continued to guide his life.
He received his education through the Indianapolis Public School System, attending William McKinley School #39 and graduating from Arsenal Technical High School. Jerry was an exceptional athlete—he excelled in basketball, softball, and track and field. During his middle school years, he broke the high jump record at School #39 and proudly earned ALL the Blue Ribbons!
Jerry went on to serve his country honorably in both the United States Army Reserves and the United States Air Force, where he worked as an airplane mechanic. Following his military service, Jerry continued his lifelong commitment to hard work. He held positions with the Marion County Sheriff’s Department and Western Electric, and in later years, he worked in the restaurant industry as a cook with Weiss’s Delicatessen and KFC.
Jerry was truly a man of many talents and endless personality. He enjoyed fishing, listening to good music, dancing, and spending quality time with his family—especially his beloved nieces and nephews, who adored his gentle spirit.
