JEANNIE PEARSON Obituary

Ms. Jeannie Denise Sylvester–Pearson was born November 30, 1957, to the late Joseph Sylvester and Delores Mae Johnson, in Indianapolis, Indiana. She attended Indianapolis public schools all her childhood life. She brought her son, “Steven E. Warren”, into this world on October 23, 1973, but was still determined to finish school. She then graduated from Crispus Attucks High School, in 1975. Shortly after, she began her career in selling insurance, she worked at Indiana State Agency for over 30 years. After the company shut down, she moved on to working for LCP Transportation as a claims adjuster throughout the rest of her life.

Jeannie married Donnie Pearson, and became a devoted wife, as well as being devoted to the entire Pearson family. She attended Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, then moved on to Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church, where she spent  the majority of her life. She later was baptized and fully committed to serving the Lord. She devoted herself by joining the choir where she could bless others with her gift through praise and worship. She was a devout soloist, singer, and loved to dance, so much, she decided to take her talents on the road and traveled. She performed with groups like “Love, Peace, and Happiness,” with her sisters, as well as a group called “Deja”, where she was singing with the very well known Kimberly and Saundria McCrackin.

Jeannie did not just stop there, she later joined New Direction Church as well as visited First Free Will Baptist Church, (her granddaughters’ family church). She visited so much she was considered a member. She sung on the spot if asked to do so, they loved to see her coming as all did. She later then attended and became a faithful member of Puritan Missionary Baptist Church, under Bishop Larry Grinstead, Senior Pastor, teachings throughout the rest of her life. She always felt that Bishop was God-sent, whenever she needed him. She was a person who went where the Lord requested her to go to do his good works. She was a person who could light up any room she walked in. She was so stylist, always “dressed to impress” from head to toe. She had such a warm spirit, very gifted, and loving to all. She played so many roles in the people’s life that she met along the way. She wore many hats as a child, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, God-mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who liked to be called “GiGi”, as well as a friend to all.

Jeannie fought a good fight, but the Lord was ready to call her home. She departed from this life on Tuesday March 21, 2023. She will be deeply missed. She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Sylvester; mother; Delores Mae Johnson; sister, Bonita Kelly; her “only child” and beloved son, Steven E Warren, and her godson, Michael Kelly.

Jeannie leaves to cherish her memory her companion, Donnie Pearson; entire family, sisters, Debra Gaines, Tamara McDonald (Ranseney), and Priscilla Sims; God-mother, Cynthia Bigbee; stepson, Corey Warren; Goddaughters, Ericka Lewis and Davida Kelly (Robin); Godson, Wendell Edmonds; grandchildren, De’Twan Warren, Sr., Nazarria Warren, and De’Monte Vandyke; great grandchild, De’Twan Warren, Jr.; special child dear to her heart, Neitra Guzman; deeply loved close friends, Charlene Gammon, Jamie Arnold, Tiffany Holifield, Napoleon William, McCrackin family,  Bigbee family, Deidra Harris, Desiree’ Wren, and Jennifer Wright, and a host of aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins, and other special friends to carry out her legacy.
