His Life Story
James Wade Wingo “Paw Paw” was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on January 3, 1955. He was the third of seven children born to the late Louise and Lonnie C. Wingo in Indianapolis, Indiana.
James professed a hope in Christ at an early age. He was educated in the Indianapolis Public School system and graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1973. After high school he went on to serve his country by joining the Army. He was employed by multiple organizations; his favorites were the service station where he enjoyed working with his father, and Devington’s House Furniture. He was also a jack of all trades; from house construction, automotive, and even owning his own lawn care company.
James was affectionately known as “Paw Paw” by his grandchildren, who he loved dearly and enjoyed spending time with. He was an avid fisherman and loved teaching his family to fish. You could always find him barbequing, with family, and having a good time.
James departed this earthly life on May 7, 2023, at the age of 68. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sons; Kenneth Wingo and Dale Gibson; grandson, Armon Wingo; sisters; Shirley Ward and Debbie Wingo.
James leaves to cherish his loving memory his sons, James D. and Jamar Wingo (Jordan); daughters, Monica Keller (Glenn), Kendra Wingo, Kenyona Wingo, and Shayna Shockley (Jagger); brothers, Larry Wingo (Lisa) and Dennis Ward; sisters, Janice Wingo, Diane Smith, and Tina Flynn (Rodney). He also leaves thirteen granddaughters, three grandsons, and another grandchild on the way; and two great-grandchildren.
