James Everett Mathias, age 76, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2026. Born on March 28, 1950, he lived a life marked by dedication to his family, career, and community.
James was a proud alumnus of The Ohio State University, where he earned his B.A., and Bowling Green State University, where he received his M.B.A. He enjoyed a successful career and retired from Eli Lilly.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth J. Musgrave-Mathias; his brother, John Mathias (Cheri Spring) of Ohio; his friend and sister-in-law Linda Hicks, brothers-in-law and friends Bobby Hicks and Patrick Musgrave; his loving stepchildren, Britani Severance of Indiana, Blake (Melissa) Bodenreider of Michigan, Scott (Jessica) Callahan of Indiana, and Thea (Dan) Lowery of North Carolina; and his grandchildren, Mars, Henry, Sasha, George, Ilona, Jackson, and Evan. He is also lovingly remembered by dear friends Patty and Lemar Parrish, Anne Smith, Gloria Griesinger, and James Balog.
A celebration of life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, Jim asked donations be made to your preferred veteran's charity. James will be remembered for his steady presence, kind heart, and devotion to those he loved.
