JACQUELINE PORTER Obituary

Jacqueline Denise Porter was born on October 1, 1955, in Humboldt, Tennessee. She was the daughter of the late Ms. Robbie Moore.

Jacqueline later relocated to Indianapolis, Indiana.  She was baptized at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.

Jacqueline earned an Associate's Degree in Nursing from Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis (I.U.P.U.I.). She became employed by St. Vincent Hospital in May of 1992. In that same year,1992, she united in Holy Matrimony with Britain Porter on December 21.

Jacqueline, along with her husband Britain, created a home filled with love and correction for their children. It was an environment that taught her children the understanding of sacrifice. She was almost never home due to sacrificing to better herself in becoming a Registered Nurse. She worked during the day and went to school afterwards. Somehow she managed to find time to still provide home-cooked meals for her family.

Jacqueline and Britain’s children witnessed them sacrifice their home to care for their mothers until they passed on.

Jacqueline  loved her family and would stress out over keeping the refrigerator full so the when her nieces and nephews came over she could tell them to eat. You didn’t have to ask to go into the refrigerator at Jacqueline’s house. She wanted everyone who entered her home to feel welcomed.

Jacqueline was a God-fearing woman and a devout Christian. Though her faith in Christ and church attendance was important, she never forced her children to attend church, but gave them the option so that they could establish their own personal relationship with Christ. Her children witnessed her supporting her husband while in the pulpit. It was an example of how a husband and wife should love one another. She enjoyed being a wife, mother, grand-mother, and taking care of others. She also loved shopping every weekend.

“My mom’s last day with us gave me what I needed to be content in Jackie’s passing. I was honored to be there for her.” -Britain, son

Jacqueline Denise Porter departed this earthly place to meet her Savior on May 16, 2023, at the age of sixty-seven years. She was preceded in death her mother and husband.

She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Britain Lavone Porter, Jr.; daughter, Natausha Ericko Porter; daughter-in-law, Sayra Porter Deras; grandchildren, Antonio Porter, Edvars Deras, Carlos Deras, Britain Porter Deras, and Briana Porter-Deras; great-grandchildren, Rachon Levi-Ray Porter and Viktor Ericko Porter; best friends, Erma Smith and Yvonne Starks, and a host of other family members and friends.
