INEZ BETHEA Obituary

Inez Charlene Applewhite Bethea, affectionately known as "Peachy", passed away peacefully at the age of seventy-five years of age on Friday, April 4, 2025, at 7:32 p.m.  She was surrounded by her loving family at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. Born on August 10, 1949, in Marion, Indiana, to Charles and Alfreda Applewhite, Peachy lived a life full of love, laughter, and unwavering faith.

She was a proud alumna of Marion High School, Class of 1968.   Peachy was baptized in Jesus’ Name and filled with the Holy Ghost, becoming a devoted member of Christ Temple Church. Her faith and community were the cornerstones of her life. She dedicated twenty-one years to RCA, where her diligence and commitment were both deeply appreciated. Outside of work, Peachy found joy in crocheting, solving crossword puzzles, and watching *The First 48* on A&E. She was a music lover, but her greatest passion was her family.

Peachy was known for her humor and warmth, often bringing smiles with her favorite word, "Fart," as she preferred it over cursing. Her vibrant personality and unwavering love for her family and friends will be deeply missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Alfreda Applewhite; sister, Teresa (Becky) Applewhite, brother, Brian Applewhite; grandson, Jyi Thompkins, and best friends, Linda Lopez and Georgia Bledsoe.

Peachy leaves behind a legacy of love through her children: Danny (Stefanie) Bowlds, Brent (Crystal) Applewhite, Ewing (Hope) Thompkins, Sherise (Billy) Thompkins, Shannon (Antonio) Thompkins, Joiya Cyrus, and Torianna (Thomas) McNair. She was a proud grandmother to twenty-one grandchildren and a great-grandmother to twenty-two great-grandchildren. Her brother, Charles (Angela) Applewhite, also survives her. Family was her world, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

She is also fondly remembered by her special friend, Nathan Callahan, and her long-time friends, Helen Pettiford, Carolyn Williams, Mary Washington, Annabelle Foote Wilson, and Teresa Smith. Peachy shared a special bond with her "bonus sisters," Delores Morrell, Priscilla Pearson, Linda Lopez, Denise Weatherly, and Carlotta Harshaw. A talented singer, she was a member of the gospel group Pearls of Harmony, where her voice brought joy to many.
