Hortensia Leauntti "Tudie" Smith was born on November 24, 1966 in Indianapolis Indiana, to George and Lizzie Smith. The name Hortensia meaning (flower or garden) was her formal name, but she was known by everyone as "Tudie". "Tudie" was the youngest of her siblings, in order from oldest to youngest, her late sister, Linda, her late sister, Abigail, brother, Hyman, and brother, Lauman “Lep”.
"Tudie" received her education through the Indianapolis Public School System. During her high school career at Arsenal Tech High School, "Tudie" was an all-around athlete, competing in Track and Field, Volleyball and Basketball. After graduating from Tech High School in 1985, she went on to Vincennes University for 1 year. Several years later, "Tudie" went back to college and studied economics at Martin University in Indianapolis.
"Tudie" had two sons, Charles Jones III, & Mark Osborn Jr; whom she loved dearly. They enjoyed traveling and fine dining together. Tudie rekindled her relationship with her high school sweetheart and life partner Mark Osborn Sr. whom she loved dearly for the last 26 years of her life.
Hortensia's passion for driving influenced her professional career as a driver for IndyGo and UPS. Hortensia enjoyed traveling, playing cards, casinos, dancing, and hosting family get-togethers at home with loved ones. Tudie's vibrant personality was felt by anyone to whom she came in contact with and was loved by anyone she had a conversation with. Hortensia knew God and had a spiritual relationship with the Lord.
God called Hortensia to come home on July 24, 2025, at the age of fifty-eight years old.
Hortensia leaves in her loving memory, her two sons, Charles Jones III and Mark Osborn Jr; her life partner, Mark Osborn Sr.; her daughter-in-law Marian; her siblings, Hyman Sr. and Lep; nieces, Nikki, Sheila, and Tatjuana; nephew, Hyman Jr.; and a host of other nieces and Nephews who she loved. Several others to whom she loved as siblings include, Ella Cole, Anne Smith and Aron family. Tudie had many friends with whom she shared many years playing cards that were a part of her extended family that she loved.
