GWENDOLYN J. LEE BROWN

Gwendolyn Joyce Lee Brown, affectionately known as “Gwen”, “Quigley” and “Dorlonda”, was born on December 10, 1953, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Rev. Leroy Lee Sr. and Mary L. Lee. Raised in a loving, God‑fearing home, she was the 3rd oldest of seven children. From an early age, Gwen learned discipline, love, and that God was present in all things. Spending the Summers in Denmark, Tennessee with her siblings on “Papa’s” farm became some of her most treasured memories.

Gwen received her early education at John Hope #26 Elementary School and graduated from Crispus Attucks High School. She later attended Indiana Business College, where she earned her Associate Degree in Business Administration. She was also a Stevens Minister.

Gwen accepted Christ at a young age and was baptized at True Vine Missionary Baptist Church by Rev. W.I. Jones and served under the leadership of Rev. Willie Harris Sr. Throughout her life, she served faithfully as a choir member, usher, trustee, and Sunday School secretary and teacher. She later joined Christian Community Missionary Baptist Church, where she continued her ministry work with dedication and joy.

After high school graduation, Gwen was married to William S. Brown. To that union was added two beautiful children Tracy and William. As their paths grew apart, there were divorced and remained friends.

A woman of many interests, Gwen enjoyed reading, gardening, crocheting, bowling, going to the movies, traveling, and playing cards. Her warm spirit and love for Christ made her a joy to all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her father: Rev. Leroy Lee Sr., mother: Mary Lee; sister: Barbara A. Taylor; brothers: Leroy Lee Jr., Terry Lee, George Lee; daughter-in-law: Sheila Brown.

Gwen leaves to cherish her memory her daughter: Tracy Webster, and son: William L. Brown “Billy”; son‑in‑law: Maurice Webster. Grandchildren: TaNasia, TreVaughn, Isaiah, Acaysia, Crystal, Lorenzo, Austin. 10 great-grandchildren,1 great-great grandson. Sister: Lecia C Lee, Brother: Kevin Lee Sr. (Audrey), best friend: Brenda Ligon, a host of bonus children and grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, church family, and friends who will forever hold her in their hearts.
