Gregory Lee Maxie was born on February 27, 1955 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Joyce Maxie.
Gregory begin his education with the Indianapolis Public Schools and graduated from George Washington High School. Gregory went on to continue his education and received his license as a Journeyman Electrician from Southern California in 1992. Gregory received his bachelor’s degree in Science from Martin University in 2001 and his master’s degree in May of 2006. Gregory received a Mental Health Therapy license from the State of Minnesota in 2012 working as a drug and alcohol counselor.
Gregory accepted Christ in his life at an early age. Gregory loved playing his harmonica, keyboard, and just about any instrument. Gregory also loved singing, cracking jokes, laughing, and picking peoples brains. But most of all, Gregory loved his family and one of his greatest achievements were his children, who he was very proud of!
Gregory departed this life on May 20, 2025 at the age of seventy years old. He was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce Maxie; grandparents, Fred and Chlorine Maxie; one uncle, Fred Maxie, Jr.; three aunts, Chlorine Maxie, Norma Owens Maxie and Frances Maxie; and cousin, Diane Maxie.
Gregory leaves to cherish his memories two sons, Alonzo Maxie and Michael Lewis; one daughter, Michelle Patterson; five grandchildren, Antanika, Ali Jordan, Courtney, Michael, and Keenan; one great-grandchild, Hendrix; and a host of family and friends.
