Grace Bernice Herbert was born on December 13, 1922, in Saint Louis, Missouri to the union of Junius and Matila Herbert.
Grace gave her life to Christ at Saint Elizabeth Catholic Church in Saint Louis, Missouri. Grace was educated in the Saint Louis Public School System, graduating from Sumner High School.
Grace worked in clerical positions for most of her life. She worked with refugees from across the world and administered High School Equivalency exams.
Grace loved art. She enjoyed listening to Ella Fitzgerald, going to plays in Downtown St. Louis, baking and creating ceramics. Grace’s secrets to a long life included everything in moderation, eating right, getting along with other people, and keeping yourself clean.
Grace is survived by her sister, Shirley Crider; grandchildren, Lisa Session and Eric Floyd; great grandchildren, Sydney, Symone and Shelby Session; and a host of other relatives.
On Monday, November 3, 2025, our Lord and Savior called for his Angel. We were all blessed and our lives were enriched by her presence for 102 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Junius and Matilda; daughter, Margaret J. Floyd; grandson, Kevin; sisters, Margaret, Lillian, Ruth, Thelma, Vera, Edith, and Faithful Jean; brothers, Lawrence, Calvin, and Junius, Jr.
