GEORGIA JACKSON-WATKINS Obituary

Georgia Jackson was born on December 6, 1972, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late Michael Reed and Albert McBride.

She received her education in the Indianapolis Public School System, attending School #74 and graduating from Arsenal Technical High School.

Georgia built a long and meaningful career in the Environmental Services Department, first at Wishard Health Services and later at Sidney and Lois Eskenazi Hospital, where she served faithfully for more than 26 years. She loved her work, finding joy in serving patients and sharing fellowship with her coworkers.

On January 16, 2023, Georgia was united in marriage to David Watkins.

Georgia was a woman who delighted in life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed listening to music on her patio, discovering new snacks, shopping at Menards, Walmart, and Meijer, and cooking for her friends and family. She loved spending time in her yard, relaxing with her beloved dogs, and cherishing every moment with her grandchildren. To know Georgia was to know a genuine, vibrant spirit—little, yet mighty.

She was an experimenter at heart, always eager to try new foods and drinks, and she never missed a chance to gather her family for karaoke, meals, and making memories. She courageously fought cancer for more than five years and beat it!  She never gave up on herself and continued to live life with strength and resilience.  Georgia’s open door and generous heart meant that if she could help, she would.

On Monday, August 18, 2025, Georgia departed this life at the age of 52 years. She was preceded in death by her parents and leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and kindness. She will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.

Left to cherish her life and legacy are her husband, David Watkins; sons, Ky’Ree Howard and Andre’ Howard; daughter, Courtney Rice; sister, Tammie Reed; grandchildren, Mariae’ Minor, Keagan Rouse, Jr., Monii Rouse, Andre’ Howard III; first cousins, Lisa Harris and Eward Ray Brashear, Jr.; and a host of extended family and friends.
