Frank Winston Hopkins, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, was born on December 5, 1941, to the late Clyde and Daisy Hopkins in Anderson, Indiana. He began his education at Hazelwood Elementary and graduated from Anderson High School in 1958. At just seventeen, Frank enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving a three-year tour in Germany before returning to his hometown. He went on to build a long and dedicated career at Delco-Remy, retiring in 1992.
Frank had an enduring love for learning. He studied at Ball State University and later earned his Associate’s Degree from Martin University. His passion for education led him to become a substitute teacher for Indianapolis Public Schools, where he shared his knowledge and encouragement with younger generations. A lifelong learner, he continued taking classes at Ivy Tech Community College well into his later years.
Generous in spirit and warm in personality, Frank had a remarkable gift for connecting with others. He was known for his quiet acts of kindness and his deep empathy, always offering a helping hand or a listening ear. Family was the center of his world, and he took great pride in spending meaningful time with his children, grandchildren, and loved ones.
Frank lived a vibrant and adventurous life. He was an avid reader and a lover of sports, coaching several teams during his children’s early years to encourage their involvement. His adventurous spirit even led him to earn a pilot’s license—logging many hours in the sky. A passionate traveler, Frank explored five of the world’s seven continents: North America, South America, Europe, Asia, and Africa.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, and curiosity.
Frank Winston Hopkins departed this life on July 3, 2025, at the age of 83. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Daisy Hopkins; his sister, Dorothy Jean Hayes; and brothers, Bennie and Jimmie Hopkins.
Frank is survived by his devoted children: Sean Hopkins, Malcolm Hopkins (Kristina), Roger Hopkins, Tori Crawford, Rajah Hopkins, and Arionne Hopkins; his brother, Roger Hopkins (Wendi); 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; his loving lifetime companion, Angela Hamilton; his best friend, Joe Wills; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends. He will be remembered for the love he gave, the lives he touched, and the joyful, full life he lived.
