Evangelist Terri Lynne McNeill Johnson was born on December 2, 1955 in Muncie Indiana. She was the second eldest child of John Calvin McNeill Sr. and Mattie Louise (Whitlow) Wyatt. She received her education at Indianapolis Public Schools and Harry E. Wood.
Evangelist Johnson began ordering her steps to become closer to the Lord under the leadership of Pastor Garry Merriweather during her tenure at These Are They Non-Denominational Church. During this time Evangelist Johnson earned her certification in Evangelism and shared the gospel in a variety of ways, by singing, praying, praise dancing, preaching the word, putting on plays, or just by simply encouraging any and everyone she encountered.
She could be found anywhere from behind the pulpit to family events in the park. She was a dedicated worker at the polls alongside her sister Doris and various community members. She always looked forward to working the polls as she loved greeting and conversing with people in the community. She also enjoyed spending weekends at her sister Candi’s house. This was her opportunity to share memories with her sisters and bond during her final days.
Spending time with her children and grandchildren were especially important to her. She would watch movies and tell stories about things she remembered growing up. She especially loved the shopping trips and vacations with her children and grandchildren because she knew she was going to come home with more clothes and shoes or whatever else she wanted. She was a true blessing to her friends and family.
Evangelist Johnson always kept God close with prayer and would often quote scriptures even as her health began to fail. Her daughter Debbie would often find her asleep holding her hands together as if she had been praying. Even through the pain she never let go of God’s unchanging hands. She was a devoted and faithful servant indeed and will be missed by her family and all who knew her. She was a loving mother, sister, aunt, cousin, grandmother and great-grandmother. She departed this earthly life to be with her Heavenly Father on July 14, 2025 at the age of sixty-nine years old. She was preceded in death by her son, Daryl Jr., husband, James Johnson; parents, Mattie and John Calvin Sr., stepfather, Robert Wyatt; her brothers, Courtney, Arik (Rico) and John Calvin Jr.; father-in-law, Walker “Joe” Duff; sister-in-law, Angela; grandparents, and great-grandparents.
She leaves to cherish her memory are her children, Terina Knight (Morani), Deborah Malone (Keith), Mark Thomas (Shannon), and Karen Adesanmi (Ayodeji); two stepsons, Mycal and Donnie Johnson; a bonus baby, Alyvia Lane (Lilly); seventeen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; siblings, Ethel Gaines, Doris Minton McNeill, Tiffanie Holiday, Yucedra Smith, Lawanda (Kendrick) Johnson, Bobby (Rocio) Wyatt, Johnathan Taborn (Teri) Shaun Holiday, Ruben Holiday and Brandon Holiday; stepmother, Portree Smith Holiday; mother-in-law, Sarah Duff; two sisters-in-law, Kim Stanciel and Dawn Walker (Malachi); two brothers-in-law, Derrick and Joseph Johnson; best friends, Joyce Adams and Yvonne Culpepper; and a host of cousins, aunts, nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.
