EUGENE LANGE, III Obituary

Eugene Lange III, son of the late Eugene Lange II and Mary Lillian Lange was born on December 6, 1953, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was a man of strength, resilience, creativity, and unwavering love for his family.

Eugene graduated from Broad Ripple High School in 1972. Following graduation, he proudly answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army. While serving as a truck driver, he completed two tours of duty in Germany. During his military service, he also pursued studies in art and mathematics at Clark College. Eugene was honorably discharged from active duty at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, in 1975 after faithfully completing three years of service.

After returning home to Indianapolis, Eugene began his civilian career as a driving instructor with EZ Method Driving. Over the years, his strong work ethic led him to several positions, including employment with Union Station, Thomas Caterers, U.S. Navy Avionics, Indianapolis Public Schools, Tuchman Cleaners, and Deb's Produce before retiring in 2008. Later in life, he became affectionately known throughout the neighborhood as the "Ice Cream Man," bringing smiles to countless children and families.

Eugene was married twice, to Sandra and Laquanda. From these unions, three children were born: Jewell Lange, Laketa Lange, and Eugene Lange IV.

Eugene found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved fishing, cooking, listening to music, singing, creating art, watching movies, and, above all, spending precious time with his grandchildren. His warm smile, kind heart, and generous spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his two daughters, Jewell (Tiffany) Lange and Laketa (Bobby) Lange-Daniel; one son, Eugene Lange IV; his stepchildren, Anthony (Melvina) Smith, Nicole (Noket) Long, Tinicia (Gregory) West, Shanta (Jeffery) Hartley, and Datrick Griffin; two sisters, Dorothy (John) McDade and Deane (Jimmy) Rose; one brother, Timmy (Aretha) Lange; 27 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and a host of treasured family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Lange II and Mary Lillian Lange; his brother, Ricky Lange; and his wives, Sandra Lange and Laquanda Lange.

Though our hearts are saddened by his passing, we rejoice in the legacy of love, service, wisdom, and kindness he leaves behind. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
