Emma Jean (Wright) Long was born to the late Ila Mae (Sloss) Miller and Hillie Wright on March 18, 1939, in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Emma attended Indianapolis public schools. She graduated from Crispus Attucks High School at the age of sixteen years.
Emma was a loving and caring person that never met a stranger. She always loved to pass out peppermints to everyone. She also loved being with her family.
Emma was a faithful church member of New Haven Baptist Church until she became unable to attend. Emma was employed at the former General Hospital for many years. Following that, she became an employee of Central State Hospital, remained there for thirty-two years.
Emma united in Holy Matrimony to Alfonso Long. Emma truly enjoyed listening to music of all genres, including Michael Jackson, the prolific and soul-stirring sermons of T.D. Jakes, and watching Jerry Springer and Court TV shows.
Emma Jean Long departed this earthly life to be with her Heavenly Father on December 29, 2025, at the age of eighty-six years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alfonso Long; three brothers, Henry Wright, Charles Miller, and Makau Gaidi, and two nephews, Robert Polin and Donnie Morris.
