ELDER EMERITA DELORIS WOODS Obituary

Deloris A. Woods was born on May 27, 1948, to Willie Lee Bradley Sr. and Carrie Mae Bradley in New Johnsonville, Tennessee. She was the oldest of 4 children.  She attended Waverly Central High School where she enjoyed playing basketball and graduated in 1965.  Some of her favorite hobbies were reading books and shopping for antiques.

Deloris was joined in Holy Matrimony to William H. Woods Jr., April 10, 1971, and from this union, 2 children were born.  During this time, she also began her working career with St. Vincent Hospital as a transporter and after several years of serving patients, she moved on to be an administrator for the Radiation Oncology Department.  In 2008, she was promoted and started working for the Cancer Care Group where she would later enjoy her retirement in 2013.

Deloris accepted Christ at an early age at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Waverly, TN.  She relocated to Indianapolis, Indiana in 1970 and found herself becoming a member of the Community MBC.  In 1976, she adjoined herself to Unity Fellowship M.B.C. where she worked diligently in ministry with unwavering dedication.  After several years of serving the Lord, she was led by the Holy Spirit to move her membership to New Haven MBC in 1998 and with the releasing by Pastor Raymond F. Hiser, unto her son, she became a member of New Unity Church in 2003 and it all started in the living room of her loving home.  While her dedication and commitment were always for God, she served in many facets of Kingdom work by being a nurse, singer, Sunday school teacher, administrator, preacher, and a dynamic cook for the kitchen committee. Through her pain, sacrifices, disappointments, trials, and tribulations, she exemplified a true worshipper, follower, and leader of Christ, a virtuous woman.

On December 29, 2025, God whispered her name and it was then she took her rightful place from labor to reward.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister, Mary G. Thomas.

Hollowell (Milton); brother, Willie L. Bradley Jr. (Felicia); grandson, Kevin Toney-Woods; great granddaughter, Kéva Toney; stepchildren, Doug, Brenda, Linda; step grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and family.
