A man full of life, laughter, and light, Earl Weddle completed his earthly journey on December 7th, 2025, at the age of 71. Though his time here has ended, the echo of his stories, his smile, and his spirit will continue to ripple through every life he touched.
Born on August 6th, 1954, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Earl was the only son of Rev. Issac and Ernestine Weddle. He carried their wisdom, strength, and faith with him everywhere he went.
Twenty years ago, Earl discovered a love that only grows stronger with time. With Marcia Locke, he found not just a partner, but a soulmate—someone whose presence turned ordinary days into treasured memories. Their bond, unshakeable and tender, remained steadfast until his final breath.
To many he was Earl, but to those who truly knew him, he was “Stanley”—the man who walked into a room and instantly made it brighter. A social butterfly, he gravitated toward laughter, good company, and the kind of joy that brings people closer together, yet, above all, he loved the Lord and carried his faith openly, quietly, and sincerely.
A proud graduate of George Washington High School, Earl went on to build a long and dedicated career in HVAC, serving Indiana University Medical Center for over 25 years, with skill and integrity.
Earl was a man of simple pleasures that spoke volumes about who he was. He kept his cars spotless—as if each one carried a story worth honoring. He mastered the grill with pride, crafting BBQ ribs so unforgettable that they became part of the family’s tradition. He knew just how to make you laugh until your sides hurt, and he also knew—lovingly—just how to get under your skin. But even that was part of his charm.
He leaves behind a legacy stitched with humor, heart, faith, and devotion. Earl was preceded in death by his parents, Isaac and Ernestine Weddle, and his sisters, Joyce Ann Akridge and Mary A. Thompson.
He is survived by his son, Earl Weddle, Jr., who carries not only his name but also his strength and spirit.
Earl’s memory lives on in his beloved siblings, Dorsey (Curtis) Kendrick, Dianne (Wilbon) Anthony, and Cheryl (Bernard) Johnson, as well as his brothers-in-law, Duane Akridge and Clark Thompson, and a host of nieces and nephews. His presence—steady, bold, and unforgettable—will be missed beyond measure.
