Dr. Roschelle Major-Banks was born on September 26, 1959, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Thomas and Lorene Major. She was the eldest of four children and grew up on the Near East Side of the city. Roschelle graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1977 and later earned degrees from Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) and the Indiana University School of Dentistry.
Terry and Roschelle met in 1983 at an Indianapolis dental office, where Roschelle worked as a dental assistant and Terry as a denture technician. During her second year of dental school, they were married over spring break on March 7, 1987. For 37 years, Terry and Roschelle enjoyed traveling and spending time with their children, family, and friends. She enjoyed the fine arts, high tea, fashion, singing, cheering on her Indiana Pacers and caring for her plants.
Dr. Major-Banks began practicing dentistry in 1989, when she and Terry opened the Allisonville Dental Center in the Millersville neighborhood of Indianapolis. Dr. Major-Banks and “Mr. B” were business partners for 36 years, serving the Indianapolis community and communities throughout the State of Indiana. Dr. Major-Banks was a member of the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, and several other dental-related organizations.
Roschelle’s faith was evident not only in her words, but also exemplified in the way she lived- through her kindness to others and her longstanding involvement in the Great Banquet community, the founding of a Women’s Eather Retreat, consistent participation in Bible Study Fellowship, a constant partner in prayer circles, and countless other acts of service, including philanthropic efforts and volunteer work.
The birth of her first grandchild three years ago marked one of the most joyful chapters of her life. Affectionately known as “Nanaba” to her grandchildren and family, she cherished the time spent with Naomi, Ruby, and Savannah, and she delighted in every moment they shared.
Roschelle had a remarkable ability to make every family member, friend, and patient feel truly special and appreciated.
Roschelle was called Home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 12, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Lorene Major.
Her legacy lives on through her loving husband, Terry Banks; their children, Meaghan (Rubin) and Zechariah (Olivia); grandchildren, Naomi, Ruby, and Savannah; siblings, Michelle, Thomas (Linda), and DeShauna (Kenneth), as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, and many dear friends.
