DELBERT MAXWELL

Delbert Leon Maxwell Sr. passed away on May 30, 2025, at the age of 79. He was born to James and Bettie Maxwell on January 7, 1946, in Anderson, Indiana.

Delbert Sr. joined the Army at the age of 15 and served until he was honorably discharged. He pursued further education at Ivy Tech and dedicated 18 years of his career as a bailiff at the City County Building. After that, he went to provide security at AutoZone and took on private deputy assignments. In recent years, he has been working as direct support staff at Damar.

Delbert married Shelley over 40 years ago June 2, 1984.  Delbert loved to travel, play golf and fish. He also enjoyed camping, bowling, and hanging with his family and friends. He was always dapper at every event. He was caring, loving, always happy and straight to the point in any conversation.

He leaves behind a loving family wife, Shelley Maxwell; sons, Earvin (Tressie), Delbert Jr., Sean Maxwell, Michael and Donovan Adkins; daughters, Ebony Owens and Tamara Adkins; brothers, Gregory, and Clyde (Rosemary) Maxwell; sister-in-law, Ethel Maxwell; a host of grandkids; one great-grandchild; two special grandchildren, Alyssa and Amari Maxwell; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Delbert was preceded in death by his parents, his son, John Maxwell, his brother John Maxwell and his sisters, Sara Stewart and Deborah Steele.
