Deacon Paul Wesley Hayden, Sr. was born September 27, 1948 in Lebanon, Kentucky to James Ezart Hayden and Maudie Elizabeth Collins Hayden. The baby boy of the family he learned from his father and older siblings the values that would define him, and he would later instill to his own family.
He moved to Indianapolis with his family in 1956 at the age of 8. He enjoyed and thrived in all his endeavors from sports to art. He displayed a variety of God given skills.
He attended IPS School #60 and Crispus Attucks High School where he completed his education.
Soon after he would meet the love of his life Alma. They would be blessed in Holy Matrimony on September 5, 1970, a love that grew stronger and endured over 46 years. Throughout they achieved many milestones, but the most cherished was his family. Paul loved and adored his family and worked selflessly to provide. He did whatever it took from working with his father, brother, and sister driving ice cream trucks to masonry work, paper routes, cleaning, and many other odd jobs. He eventually worked for Kroger Bakery warehouse where he would sacrifice sometimes 16-18 hrs. with no complaints. Through all of this he still found time for his children supporting them no matter what thru loss and triumph.
He had a heart of gold and his love went beyond his own. Always positive with a gentile energy, still firm in his correction which he exercised with wisdom. Some of his passions were gardening. He loved his tomatoes. He loved fishing as well.
He was a talented artist from drawings to portraits, to playing his guitar. He would play at home and at church. He served with gladness under the pastoral mentorship of the late Bishop Nathaniel Madden at Emmanuel Temple where his early skills helped to build the foundation of the church. His service was faithful to the end. Always willing to help. He later fellowshipped with Lamb of God Assembly (Pastor Robert Hornberger) and New Beginnings Apostolic Church (Memphis, TN – Pastor Bishop Bromlett Cooper), never wavering in spirit.
He departed this life a warrior of mountains high on November 29, 2021 at the favored age of 73.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted children, Consuella Francoise Hayden, Paul W. Hayden Jr., Patrick Hayden, Shianna Hayden, Kayla Hayden, Cortez Hayden, Deanthony Hayden, and Vince Hayden; brother, Thomas (Margaret) Hayden; sister, Carrie Campbell; 12 grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
