Deacon Henry L. Chandler was born on July 23, 2942, in Feebie, Mississippi. He was the son of Gordon Chandler and Serphenia Jefferson.
Henry moved to Indianapolis, Indiana in 1960. It is here he was united in Holy Matrimony with Odessia Strong in 1966. To their union two children were born, Antonio and Tamala Chandler.
Henry was employed by Northside Cab Company and the Indianapolis Public School System as a bus driver. He was also an auto mechanic for many years.
Henry accepted Christ at an early age. He later united with the Light of the World Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Sherman D. Allen, Sr., who also ordained his as a Deacon. He continues his service under the pastoral leadership of Rev. James D. Allen, Sr.
Deacon Henry L. Chandler touched so many lives. He was endowed with a very tremendous spirit, and he was loved by so many. He always kept a smile on his face. He enjoyed working on cars and spending time with his grandchildren.
On March 29, 2026, at 10:30 p.m., at the age of eighty-three years eight months and seven days. Deacon Henry L. Chandler was called Home to Heaven. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandchild, Taliyah Dorsett, and brothers, Izear Jefferson and Willie Brown.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories his wife, Odessia Chandler; two children, Antonio Chandler and Tamala Chandler; four grandchildren, Antonio Chandler, Jr., Aaron Dorsett, Jr., Aaliyah Dorsett, and Jasmine Ariona DeVoe; four brothers, James Eddie Brown, Daniel T. Brown, Thomas Lee Brown, and Stephen M. Brown; two sisters, Louella Brown and Lula Chandler, a host of niece and nephews, many other relatives, church family and friends.
