Felix McDaniel III, the son of Felix McDaniel Jr. and Pearl E. Henderson McDaniel, was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on December 11, 1952. He attended Shortridge High School and graduated in 1971. He was drafted into the U.S. Army as a medic in 1972 and was honorably discharged in 1974. He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree and graduated cum laude from Indiana Wesleyan in 2000.
Felix was a hard worker who began his career at AT&T in 1984 where he made lifelong friends. He retired as an IT director in 2013.
Felix enjoyed several hobbies, including photography, running, biking, and tennis. Golf, however, was the game that he truly enjoyed the most. He spent several hours on golf courses around the city where he enjoyed the company of good friends.
Felix gave his life to Christ and received the precious gift of the Holy Ghost as a teenager at Grace Apostolic Church under the leadership and guidance of the late Bishop Morris Ellis Golder. He spent his entire life involved in church. In his time as a member of both Grace Apostolic Church and Mt. Zion Apostolic Church, he was an enthusiastic choir member, a loyal Sunday school and Bible study participant, and a dedicated Deacon.
On March 23, 1974, Felix was united in Holy Matrimony to the absolute love of his life and apple of his eye, Linda Parks. They were married for a wonderful 52 years. To this union, they had two beautiful daughters, Courtenay Lynn (Jarrod Brown) and Megan Elizabeth (John Kuykendall III). He had six wonderful grandchildren that he treasured: Ryan A. McDaniel, Jacob A. Milliken, Monroe E. Kuykendall, John A. Kuykendall IV, Neala G. Kuykendall, and Jackson A. Kuykendall.
Felix was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, and brother, Joe R. Henderson. Felix leaves to cherish his memory to his siblings: Lynthia D. Bruce, Margaletta B. McDaniel Harris McGee, Robert McDaniel (Janis), Elige McDaniel (Sandra), Kathyann McDaniel, Roxanne McDaniel Gleaves (Melvin), and Anthony G. McDaniel (Carla). Felix leaves behind his aunt, Senobia Henderson Pervine, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Felix was a kind, warm, funny, and honorable man of God who was loved and admired by so many people. He will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure and privilege of knowing him. His memory is a blessing to us all.
