Dazaree Taylor Newman was born August 4, 1935, to the late Tony and Bertha Taylor in McCaskill, Arkansas. At an early age her family moved to Flint Michigan, where she enrolled in the public schools and graduated from Northern High School in 1955. After high school she attended Baker Business College. Other educational background includes graduate of Lear Segilar Institute, Poro Beauty and Barber College, Indiana Real Estate School, attended Vincennes University and Baptist Bible College.
In 1958, she married the late Rev. Dr. T. T. Newman, the late pastor of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. During this 27 year union two sons were born, Richard Todd Newman and Edward Tyrone Newman. Rev. and Mrs. Newman also adopted their granddaughter, Tynicia Newman. She was employed at the U.S. Army Finance Center for 15 years and Mt. Carmel Baptist Church for 10 years under Dr. Theron D. Williams I.
At the age of 15 she gave her life to Jesus Christ and began her lifelong journey of developing a personal relationship with her Lord and Savior. Mrs. Newman was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church since 1963. She was very active in her church where she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, sang in the choir for many years, was a member of the Missionary Society, she was a New Member and New Believers Orientation Teacher, Vice-President of the Women’s Movement, Director of Evangelism and Community Affairs, Teacher for Evangelism Ministry, planned all of the Evangelism Outreach Campaigns and was instrumental in establishing the Food Pantry, The Singles Ministry and The Prayer Warriors Ministry, The Prayer Line, Clothing Bank and Love Your Family and Friends Days.
For many years she was a guest speaker for many churches throughout the state on Women’s Day, Prayer Breakfasts, and Facilitator of various workshops. Mrs. Newman was a lifetime member of the National Council of Negro Women where she has been the recipient of many awards for volunteer work. She also volunteered for the Information & Referral Help Line of the United Way for several years. She was an NAACP Award recipient for the outstanding and diligent work she did in the community and at her church.
She had a love for the preaching of the Gospel and a burning desire for lost souls. Mrs. Newman had her own personal Tract Ministry, “The Try God Tract Ministry”, where she enjoyed designing her own Tracts, having them printed up, passing them out and witnessing. She loved her community and was very active.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Bertha Porter; father, Toney Taylor; sisters, Esther Watts and Artie Dixson; brother, Jines Henry Taylor; grandson, Richard Todd Newman, II; and nephew, grant Herron
She leaves at her passing two sons, Richard Todd (Rosemary) of Illinois, Edward Tyrone (Michele) of Florida, daughter Tynicia Newman-Pruitt (Michael) of Hawaii, brother Matthew Taylor of Michigan, 12 grandchildren - Tyrone II, Tiana, Alexis, Aaron, Roget, Gabriel, Brailon, Jalia, Makaila, Melody, Bryce, Jaya), great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other beloved relatives, and a host of friends.
