David L. Battles was born to William Battles and Diane L. Battles on March 30, 1964, in Indianapolis, Indiana. David was often called “Battles” or “Dave”, but close family members knew him as “Bo-Gee”. David was known best as the family member that everyone knew. He loved his family and would be seen with them often. He was always ready to make a dollar and help in any way. Dave could rig or fix up anything he put his mind to and would make sure it was working (whether properly or not it was functioning).
David accepted Christ and was baptized at Light of the World Christian Church, where he became a member. He would help with the Missions Department during the early morning church services downtown with the Ministers by volunteering to pass out food and freely share his testimony about how God has always been present in his life.
David leaves a message to his blood brother, his only friend, the one who understood him and helped him the most, William A. Thomas. My Brother, keep the faith and do what Ma taught us to do “Keep Living”. Through it all, you were all I had… I am at Peace, I Love you, your brother, Dave.
David departed this life on August 24, 2025, at the age of Sixty-One (61). He was preceded in death by his father William Battles, and mother, Diane Battles.
He leaves to cherish his memories of his only son, David D. Battles; brother William A. Thomas; sisters Betty Battles, and Dionna DuVall, and a host of nieces, nephews and beloved friends and family.
