CHRISTINE BUTLER

Christine (Johnson) Butler was born April 27, 1943 in Ruleville, Mississippi.  She was the daughter of the late Samuel Johnson and Elizabeth Lawrence Johnson. 

Christine completed a modest education in Mississippi and had eighty years of life education.

Christine was married to John Arthur Butler and to their union five children were born.  Three boys and two girls. 

Christine and Victor Carpenter had a daughter.

Christine obeyed the gospel in 1959.  She was a member of the Kingsley Terrace Church of Christ.  She was in regular attendance and participated in various activities of the church.

Christine moved to Indianapolis, Indiana in 1962. She worked as a Domestic Engineer in the Indianapolis Police Building for over 20 years. Christine also worked as the Cook in the Kingsley Terrace Child Development Center for several years.

Christine departed this life on Friday, August 25, 2023 at the age of eighty years old.  She was preceded in death by her parents Samuel and Elizabeth; sister, Ledora; sons, Melvin and Lionel; daughter, Johnnie; and granddaughter, LeNesha.

She leaves to cherish her memory daughters, Ledora Holt (Marion), June Carpenter; son, Arbery Butler; grandchildren, Wendell Johnson (Vangie), Candi Webley (Emilo), Cerita Hall, Shalita Carpenter, DiNae’ Billingsley, Vencent Holt (Sylvia) and David Holt, a host of great-grandchildren, niece, nephews, cousins, family and friends. She will be missed by those who loved and cared about her.
