Charles B. Gordon was born on August 14, 1935, in Columbus, Mississippi. He was the youngest of eight children born to the union of Charlie B. Gordon, Sr. and Mae France Webb Gordon His mother transitioned shortly after his birth. His mother’s sister, Bertha Hamilton, assumed the responsibility of raising him.
Charles, as a young man, relocated to Indianapolis, Indiana. Charles loved God, life, friends, and family. He relished traveling and visiting his family for reunions and special occasions. He also enjoyed hosting his family and friends when they came to visit. He enjoyed music-jazz, blues and especially gospel. He soon became involved with the gospel community. He sang with Robert Turner and the Silver Hearts, The Celestial Chorus, and Burnetta Sloss-Tanner and The Jordanaires. Charles was a member of First Samuel Church (W)Holistic Ministries. He retired from the Chrysler Corporation after twenty-two years.
Charles departed this life Saturday, December 3, 2022, at the age of eighty-seven years three months and twenty days. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Tommie, William, Henry, Jimmie and Roosevelt Gordon and sister, Lucille Peterson. He will be sorely missed.
He leaves to cherish his memory daughter, Adrienne (Angel) Gordon of Indianapolis, Indiana; sister, Bertha (James) Gillespie; the Moody family; David McCloud, his best friend of over sixty years, a host of nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends and loved ones too numerous to name.
