Charisse Lavette Embry was born on September 03, 1961, in Chicago, Illinois. She received her primary education at Mary Mapes Dodge Elementary and attended Westinghouse High School, both located in Chicago, Illinois. Risse later went on to receive a degree in business from Ivy Tech Community College, located in Indianapolis, IN.
Risse was a Christian, a kind, compassionate, and caring soul. Risse attended Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church; she loved the Women's Bible Study group. Risse also loved music, nature, shopping, and was always giving to others.
Risse had a 22-year career at King Ribs Bar-B-Que, where she became known for her integrity, attention to detail, and strong work ethic.

After Risse retired, she made friends in New York. When Risse returned to Indianapolis, she made friends with her new neighbors. Risse would blast her favorite 90s Hip-Hop/R&B on her bluetooth speaker, her friends and neighbors would come out of their apartments to dance with her in the hallway.
Risse departed this earthly world on December 30, 2025, at the age of 64. She was preceded in death by her son Michael Lloyd Jr., Siblings Deborah Hardin, John L Embry III, Bennie Wilkes, Debrah McClure, and Niece Raneisha Hardy.
Risse leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter, Melissa Lindsay. Her mother Christine Fletcher, James Fletcher. Siblings, Anthony W. Embry (Debra brown), Patrice Hardy, and Fred Ownens. Nieces Kameika Embry, Uneike Hardy, Nephews Raymond Embry (Misty), and Jason Hardy. A host of aunts, uncles, additional nieces and nephews, cousins, the Clardy family, and friends.
Charisse Lavette Embry will forever be loved and deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
