Caroline M. Cox was born on September 21, 1951, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late Rick Cox and Mary M. Cox.
Affectionately known as “Sweet Caroline,” she found great joy in serving others and staying active in her community. She had a genuine love for helping people and worked for many years as a certified nursing assistant, where she cared for others with compassion and dedication. Her kindness extended far beyond her profession; she generously volunteered at election polls and was always willing to lend a helping hand within her apartment community. Whether decorating, setting up for gatherings, or organizing special events and day trips, Caroline brought people together with warmth and enthusiasm.
She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures, including playing bingo, completing word searches and puzzles, watching her favorite television shows, and spending time shopping. Above all, Caroline cherished her family. She truly loved being a mother and treasured every moment spent caring for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Through her love and devotion, she created lasting memories and shared her kindness, laughter, and welcoming spirit with all who knew her.
Caroline M. Cox departed this life on April 1, 2026. She was preceded death by her parents, the father of her children, Edward Thomas; and great-grandson, Jett Colbert.
She is survived two children, Regina Thompson and Keyno Thomas; grandchildren, Darnell Thompson (LaRisa), Darnee’ Colbert (Torrance), DeZaree’ Thompson, Dee Dee Strong, Jahresse Tye, and Keyno “KJ” Thomas, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Darnell “DJ” Thompson, Jr., Torrance “TJay” Colbert, Priya, Xiya, and Ariyah Colbert; and her beloved grandpup, Zuri; four siblings, son-in-law, Ward Thompson and a host of family and friends.
