Carmen Miranda (Dennis) Thomas was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Katherine E. Williams and stepfather Paul N. Williams Sr. on November 19, 1941.
Carmen received her education at School #26 and Arsenal Technical High School.
Carmen Thomas was employed at General Hospital (now Eskenazi) in the late 1960’s, hired as a Test Tube Cleaner working in the Lab and later trained to become one of the Lead Phlebotomist at General Hospital. She worked there for more than 15 years, having to retire early due to health issues.
As a young woman, Carmen Thomas professed a hope in Christ and was baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. A.M. Hughes, she was a Sunday School Teacher. Carmen later in life joined Mt. Zion Free Will Baptist Church under the leadership of Bishop L.J. Hampton Sr.
Carmen Thomas was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She loved thrifting, listening to gospel music, studying the bible, and enjoying family and friends. Everyone who knew her cherished and loved her.
Carmen Thomas departed this life on Monday, November 10, 2025, at the age 83 at Northwest Manor Health Center.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Katherine E. Williams; stepfather, Paul N. Williams Sr.; brothers, Samuel Dennis, Nathaniel Dennis, Bert Williams, and Steven Williams; sister, Stephanie Williams; and daughter, Cecelia Thomas.
Carmen Thomas leaves behind to cherish her memories; her eldest son, Tyrone Hampton (Darlene); youngest son, Aaron Thomas; brothers, Victor Dennis (Sandra); Paul L. Williams (Felecia); Alfonzo Hardeman, Tony Hardeman, and Paul N. Williams Jr.; sisters, Goldie Gilbert (Daniel) and Margaret Barnett; grandchildren, Antonio Duncan; Veronica Young; Maurice Thomas; Jasmine Gayden (Devell), Tylene Hampton, Ava Thomas, Ty and Anthony Williams; five great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, great nieces; nephews, great nephews and a host of cousins, family and friends.
