Betty Jo DeGraphenreed was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on August 25, 1943. She was the oldest of 7 children of James and Mary DeGraphenreed. Betty accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and savior at an early age.
Betty Jo Degraphenreed, on September the 17, 2025 went home to be with her Heavenly Father Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her father; sister, Joanna Degraphenreed and son, Orlando Matthews, Jr.; brother-in-law, Kenny Davis.
Betty loved to shop. What she loved most outside of Christ was her family.
As we celebrate her life and legacy, let’s always remember the beautiful, lovely, Giver from the heart, Godly woman. She is survived by her 5 children, Carlita (Joseph) Arila, Shawna (Emory) Stroud, Beulah Jean Matthews, John Miles, Jose (Jaime) Miles; grandchildren Orlando III, Juan, Monie, Brandon, Sean, Ryan, Aaron, Cheza, Megan, Ta’Juana, Jasmin, Tristan, Austin, Johnicea, Ignoisco, Xavier, Jozarya, Jose Jr, and Blake; great grandchildren Katlyn, Orlando IIII, Christian, Ryla, Oliver, Jameson, Bryce, Bezaleel; great great grandchild, A. Carter; mother, Mary Elizabeth Degraphenreed; brothers, Tony (Margie) Degraphenreed and Juan Degraphenreed; sisters, Donna Carter, Janice Degraphenreed, Nancita Davis; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Betty will never be forgotten and always remembered as Betty Jo, Bett Bett, Mama, Grandma, Grandma Betty. God loaned us His precious Betty for years filled with laughter, wisdom, and love. Now with full hearts, we gently place her back into His embrace. We cherish the love of each moment remembered, with an awesome mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. A wonderful Godly woman.
