BARBARA BISHOP

Barbara Jean Bishop, 89, peacefully departed this earth on   November 29, 2021. 

Born on April 24, 1932 in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Edmund Sears and Ada Thornton Sears, Barbara was a proud 1951 Crispus Attucks High School graduate.  She retired from General Electric, formerly RCA, after more than twenty-five years of employment.  

Having professed a belief in Christ, Barbara was a faithful member of Mount Helm Missionary Baptist Church until her health declined.  Barbara dearly loved her family and her man friends.  She always made room at her table for anyone!

Barbara was lovingly known as “Momma”, “Granny”, “Aunt Jean” and ”Barbie”.  Each of these names were endearments to those she loved, and those who loved her in return.

Barbara Jean Bishop was preceded in death by her parents, Ada Belle and Edmund Sears; brothers, Lavon Sears and Edmund William Sears, and sister, Lois Bruce. 

She is survived by her children, Luther Davis and Regina Sears; grand-children, LaMar Davis and Meka Wiggins; five great grandchildren; brother, Richard Sears, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will each cherish her memories.
