ANTHONY PHILLIPS, JR.

With profound sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Anthony Faye Phillips, Jr., affectionately known as “Tony P.” Tony departed this life unexpectedly on June 16, 2026, at the age of 34.  Though his time on earth was far too short, the love he gave and the lives he touched will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him.

Tony was born on September 13, 1991, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Anthony Faye Phillips, Sr. and Monica Powell.  He was educated through Indianapolis Public Schools, graduated from Broad Ripple High School and furthered his education at Sullivan University.

To know Tony was to love him.  He had an infectious smile, a warm spirit, and a personality that could light up any room.  He never met a stranger and had a remarkable way of making everyone feel like family.  Whether through laughter, conversation, or simply his presence, Tony left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.

Music was one of Tony’s greatest passions.  It wasn’t just something he enjoyed.  It was part of his identity.  Whether he was creating music, listening to it, or sharing it with those around him, music was the way he expressed his heart and connected with the world.  His love for music and engineering earned him the nickname “Turn Me Up Tony P,” a phrase that perfectly reflected the joy, energy, and spirit he carried throughout his life. 

Above all else, Tony loved his family.   He was a devoted fiancé, a proud and loving father, a caring son, a protective brother, a godfather, and a loyal friend.  His greatest joy came from spending time with those he loved cooking and making memories that will now be cherished forever.

Tony leaves to cherish his memory his loving fiancée, Lillie Davis; his beloved children, Ja’Kobe Phillips, Larez Nickens, Antony Davis, Ayrean Phillips, and Antonya Walker; his parents, Anthony Faye Phillips, Sr. and Monica Powell; his brothers, Daylon Hall, Jr., Aric Powell, Darrin Phillips, Amauari Phillips and Alijah Phillips; his sisters, Ebony Phillips, Aryeh Phillips, and Kendall Phillips; his cherished godchild, Maddisyn Tyree along with a host of aunts uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members and countless friends who will forever treasure his memory.

Although our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that Tony’s love, laughter, and music will continue to live on in everyone he touched.  His legacy is not measured by the years he lived, but by the lives he changed and the love he freely gave.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John Powell, Eugene Wiliams, Arnetta Powell; uncles, Casey Phillips and Scooby; cousin, Mariah Phillips; as well as his close friend and brother at heart, Leandre “Pookie” Huston.
