ANTHONY BURGESS

Mr. Anthony Jerome “Tony” Burgess, the son of Matilda Burgess and the late Charles Burgess, was born on April 3, 1961, in Indianapolis, Indiana. 

Tony professed his belief in Christ at an early age and united with the Phillips Temple C.M.E. Church. Tony attended Indianapolis Public School #52 and graduated from Crispus Attucks High School with The Class of 1979.

Tony enjoyed reading, sports, and old school music. He loved his family dearly and his family loved him. Tony was employed at Joe’s Kitchen, and he later worked construction in Miami, Florida before returning to Indianapolis.

Mr. Anthony Jerome “Tony” Burgess departed this life on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at the age of sixty-four years.  He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Burgess.

He leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Matilda Burgess; siblings, Jeffery Burgess of Indianapolis, Indiana, Michael Burgess of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Kevin Burgess and Kim Johnson of Indianapolis, Indiana; aunts, Dora Turner and Lillian Williams, four nieces, four nephews, two great-nephews, and a host of cousins, other family members, loved ones and friends.
