ANNETTE GASTON-TUCKER Obituary

Annette Gatson was born on December 26, 1942, in Gary, Indiana. She was the daughter of the late Pearl Winslow (Sweatt) and Mr. Gaston.

A proud graduate of Roosevelt High School in Gary, Indiana, Annette believed that learning was a lifelong journey. She continued her education by earning her undergraduate degree from Martin University in Indianapolis, Indiana, and later received a Master’s degree in Education from Strayer University. She dedicated her life to serving others through education, encouragement, and mentorship.

Annette retired from William N. Wishard Hospital after years of faithful service.  There she was known for her compassion and commitment to helping others. She had a heart for people and found great joy in teaching children, serving as a sponsor, and sharing wisdom with everyone she met.

Annette was a devoted wife to James R. Tucker. Her greatest love was her relationship with the Lord. A faithful member of Greater Commission Church of God, Annette dedicated her life to Christ many years ago and lived out her faith daily. She joyfully served in the church’s praise dance ministry, Expressions of Hope, for five years, worshiping God through dance and inspiring others with her grace and devotion.

Annette Gaston-Tucker, age 83, of Indianapolis, Indiana, peacefully departed this life on July 3, 2026. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Alfred Jeter and Dorian Hall; and her sister, Cheryl Gardner.

Although she had no biological children, she lovingly embraced her family and leaves to cherish her memory her husband, James R. Tucker; three stepchildren, Charm V. Tucker, James A. Tucker, and Carlos Tucker; her beloved godson, Ricky Jordan; nine cherished grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her sister, Sylvia Day; sister-in-law, Cheryl Hall; a host of nieces and nephews; her trusted and devoted friend of more than 35 years, Cynthia Ransom, along with many extended family members, friends, and loved ones whose lives she touched through her kindness and unwavering faith.

Annette will be remembered for her gentle spirit, loving heart, generous nature, and steadfast faith. She leaves behind a legacy of service, compassion, education, and Christian love that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
