ANNETTE DENISE (LYLES) SMITH

Mrs. Annette Smith was born on July 21, 1967, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Tommie Lee Jr and Mary Lyles.  Annette attended Indianapolis Public Schools 54 and 101.  She played basketball and was on the swim team.  She graduated from Arsenal Technical High School and later matriculated to Ivy Tech State College for Business.

Annette enjoyed doing hair so much that she went to Cosmetology School and became a hairdresser.  Annette worked in the Insurance Industry for over 20 years as well.

Annette accepted Christ at an early age.  She was active in the church and a member of many usher boards.

She enjoyed fishing and considered herself to be great at it even though there was only one time anyone saw her get a “big catch”.  When it came to cooking, she loved taking new recipes and making them her own.  Always something good to eat at their house.

Playing cards was one of her favorite fun times.  She loved to travel.  When her sister-friends were around, it became a block party.

In August of 2000, Annette would marry Carl Smith, Sr., in Las Vegas.  Annette was a doting mother to Carl Smith, Jr., who was born in 1988.  To this day, he is still her BABY. 

Spending time with her family was one of the joys of her life.   Whether it was with her son, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, or sister-friends.  She spent most of her precious time with her husband, Carl Sr., for more than thirty years.

Mrs. Annette Denise Lyles Smith departed this life on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at the age of fifty-eight years and eleven months.

Annette was preceded in death by her twins, Chyana and Anthony Smith, her parents,

Tommie Lee Jr and Mary Ellen Weaver Lyles; brothers, Melvin Lyles, Leroy Dabney, and Phillip Stringer. 

Annette Lyles Smith leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Carl Smith, Sr., her BABY and son, Carl Smith, Jr.; grandson, Carmelo Smith, granddaughter, Alaya Smith; sister, Lenette Lyles-Green (Patrick); brothers, Adell Lyles (Dee), Ruford Lyles, and Tommie Strainer; Mother-in-Law Isabel Davenport (Sam); Sister-in-Laws Martina Harris (Michael), Samantha Davis (Robin), Anita Smith, Sandra Flemons (Shelmon); Brother-in-Laws Karon Smith, Donnie Smith, Mark Smith (Shanie); a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends to cherish her memory.
