ANDREW R. MCCLASKY, JR.

Andrew Robert McClasky, Jr., affectionately known as "Butch" and "Bodyman," peacefully departed this life at his home on June 14, 2026, at the age of 83.

Andrew was born on May 16, 1943, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Andrew Robert McClasky, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Montgomery. He was raised in Louisville and graduated from Central High School with the Class of 1961. One of his favorite stories to share was that he    attended school with the legendary boxer, the late Cassius Clay, later known to the world as Muhammad Ali. He proudly recalled being schoolmates with Ali and his brother, the late Rahman Ali.

As a young man, Andrew relocated to Indianapolis, Indiana, where he built a life filled with family, friendships, hard work, and unforgettable memories. He furthered his education by attending Ivy Tech's Auto Mechanics program and later Truck Driving School, where he earned his Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

Andrew was united in marriage to Beverly McClasky, two beloved  children, Andrea and Terence "Terry" were a part of that union.

A man of faith, Andrew was a longtime member of Second Baptist Church, now known as Purpose of Life Ministries. Later in life, he became a member of Scott's Methodist Church.

Andrew proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era and earned distinction as a certified sharpshooter. Following his military service, he embarked upon a long and successful career. In his younger years, he worked at the Sheraton Hotel downtown Indianapolis, where he met Beverly. He later dedicated nearly 18 years to Richardson Rubber Company, which later became Witco Rubber Company. Andrew then pursued a career in trucking, working for Celadon Trucking Company and Quickway Trucking Company. Combined, he devoted approximately 23 years to the trucking industry, bringing his total years of employment to nearly 41 years before retirement. Never one to sit idle, he later worked part-time for approximately two years with Manheim Auto Auction in Indianapolis.

 Andrew developed a deep passion for motorcycles and the open road. He especially loved his Honda Gold Wing motorcycle and became well known throughout the motorcycle community. He was a proud member of the Naptown Riders Motorcycle Club for approximately 17 years and later joined the Rough Riders Motorcycle Club, where he remained active for approximately 12 years before retiring from riding.

One of the highlights of his riding career came in 1984 when he served as a road and bus manager during a parade and had the honor of riding then-Mayor William Hudnut on the back of his motorcycle. The occasion became even more memorable when Mayor Hudnut autographed their photograph with the inscription, "Thanks for the ride, Bodyman."

Andrew truly enjoyed life. He loved talking "crazy," making people laugh, and sharing stories. He often said, "I lived my life," and those who knew him would agree. He was known for his hearty appetite, his love for a good meal, and his ability to make friends wherever he went.

Andrew leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Andrea McClasky-Woods (Kenny); his sons, Terence "Terry" Anthony and Rev. William Gatewood (Dee Dee); a blended family of 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, all of whom he lovingly claimed as his own.

He also leaves behind his sisters, Debra Warfield and Gina McClasky; his special cousins, Everett Todd ("Robinhood") and Paula Giddens; his only living aunt, Musett Robertson; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Though he did not give them life, life gave them each other. Andrew shared a special bond with Tiana Byrd and TyAnn Capps, whom he lovingly referred to as his daughters. Tiana affectionately called him "Pops," while TyAnn lovingly called him "Step-Dad." Their relationship was built on love, respect, and an unbreakable connection of the heart.

Andrew was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Robert McClasky, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Montgomery Owens.
