A Life Rooted in Indianapolis and Faith
A lifelong resident of the community she loved since December 1, 1969, Amanda was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. Her life was a living testament to her unwavering belief in the Living God. For Amanda, prayer was not merely a habit, but a powerful, transformative force. She moved through the world with a "Spirit of Excellence," convinced that through Christ, all things were possible. She was a pillar of strength who lived out the Gospel daily, constantly encouraging others to seek a personal relationship with the Lord and finding great joy in inviting them into the fellowship of her church home.
A Heart for Service and Adventure
Amanda’s career path reflected her multifaceted nature—combining a nurturing heart with a fearless work ethic. After a successful tenure in healthcare, she bravely pursued a passion for aviation, obtaining a special class license to shuttle pilots for FedEx and serving as a dispatcher.
Her commitment to her community was most recently seen in her work with Decatur Township, where she monitored school buses for students with special needs. Amanda truly treasured these children, treating her role not as a job, but as a calling. Her involvement with Women of Excellence (WOE) further showcased her dedication to sisterhood and spiritual growth; she was a fixture at every conference, always ready to pour into others.
Her Legacy of Love
When she wasn't serving others, Amanda delighted in the beauty of God’s creation. She was a connoisseur of fine dining and a traveler who recently explored Tennessee, Colorado, Florida, and Hawaii. She was the definition of "dependable"—a reliable friend and a devoted family woman who leaves behind a legacy of strength, laughter, and grace.
Family
Amanda is survived by her beloved child, Kairon D. Markey; her mother, Deborah Reed; and her three sisters, Monica Rene Cole, Deitra Reed, and LaTonya Watkins. She is preceded in death by her father, Robert Watkins.
