Vickie - Leon was more than friend to me, his loss will resonate deeply.  He was a gentle soul and purpose driven. He treated his fellow men with kindness and a warm smile. I knew him for past 12 years as we started together at Navistar in Fort Wayne and moved  to Lisle about the same time.  During this time I got to know Leon, and i knew from early on that he was someone I will know for a long time. I can say that I loved your Husband for the beautiful soul that he was; He lived the creed of how person should treat one another. He will remain in my memory forever.

Vickie - I was so shocked and saddened to hear of Leon's passing. He was a dear friend.  I worked with Leon on the transmission team at Navistar and he was the kindest and gentlest soul I have known.  He treated everyone he came into contact with, with respect and genuinely made you feel heard, cared for and significant.  He really brought our team together, suggesting and pushing for get togethers outside of work to really bond.  He has dined at my table and I had the joy of worshiping with him at my church a couple of Wednesdays when he was here.  I truly loved Leon, and he brought a smile to my face every time I saw him.  While I left Navistar 4 years ago, Leon made it a point to keep in touch and invite me to the team get togethers. His was a life spent serving the King of Kings and impacting his fellow man in only positive ways.  I look forward to that day when I will see him again and we can all worship together. Peace be with you and your family.

So sorry to hear of Leon's passing. He was one of my most cherished friends and someone I will emulate and miss dearly. His attitude towards others, his hard work and his smile were all very infectious. It was Leon that always took time for me (when he didn't have to) and I'll always be grateful to have known him. He was a guiding light for all of us and I will not forget him.

Leon was the most kind, lovely and humble person I have ever met in my life. He was the kind of people that you know and you can't believe they can be happy all the time, always with a positive attitude... that was my friend Leon.

I met him about 10 years ago in Fort Wayne when I started to work at Navistar. Without knowing me, he adopted me and guide me. Since the first time we started to work together he made me feel part of the team. Arif, Leon and I created our small team inside this great company. We were the 3 musketeers.

I don't know how it happened, but he started to have affection by me. It was so fast but you and your family knows him... Leon was that kind of person too. Besides to enjoy being working together, we made a strong friendship. He was more than a friend for me, he was part of my family. He was there in the best and the worse moments in my life.

I can't believe I will not hear his voice anymore. He used to call me Jan-Ice. I don't know where it came from but it was very funny.

The days are passing by and it will be hard continue without him. He made us feel great all the time. He touched my heart, and he will be there the rest of my life.

The last words he told me last Friday were "Take care Janet. Take care of Isaac and say hello to Victor. You are my buddy. You will always be. You know it. Enjoy your holiday and talk to you on Tuesday. Don't forget to call me. Ba bye"

I'll always remember his smile and his voice.

Vickie and family,
I'm so sorry for your loss. My prayers are with you. I wish to be there to be with you and say good bye. September 25th is my birthday and I will celebrate his life from Mexico. Thank you for sharing this excellent human being with our team. He will be unforgetable.

I am just reeling from the news of Leon's passing.  Although I work at Navistar, I didn't work closely with Leon so I didn't know him well.  But you didn't have to know Leon very well to know that he lived his life by the golden rule.  Praying for comfort to everyone touched by Leon.

I am so sorry and shocked to hear that Leon is gone, a great guy and a great engineer.  Did not run into Leon often, but whenever I did or got a call from him I counted that as being a great day, always brought a smile to me.

Again, I am so sorry, the world has become a bit dimmer now without him.

Leon was great to work with Navistar. He attended a training class that I was teaching for Navistar's BOM software.  That was probably a decade ago & in recent years I have worked with him on jobs he submitted.  Throughout the years; he was always kind and pleasant.  He always had a smile and a kind word.  I am sure your hearts are broken.  I am sorry for your loss.

Leon has been a go-to colleague who always tried to find a way to help out no matter how busy he was.  More importantly, Leon became a trusted friend over the 12 years since I met him in Fort Wayne.  It was always a pleasure to see him in the office and great fun to have him join us for dinner on a few occasions when he was in Lisle.  Deepest sympathy to Vickie and the family of whom he spoke fondly and proudly.

I am sorry for your loss.
I worked with Leon at Navistar, and Leon was a positive light there.
Leon is someone I enjoyed working with and looked forward to seeing.
I cannot remember a time he was not calm, smiling, and chuckling/laughing.  He has left us too early.

Sending you my deepest condolences on Leon's passing.  He was a valued colleague at Navistar for the work he did and the person he was.  I was shocked and saddened to learn of his passing.  Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote “The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.”  This was Leon; he made a difference to all he met including me.

Leon will be sorely missed at Navistar.  He was a highly respected engineer to be sure but more importantly he was just a great guy to be around.  I’m fortunate to have been friends with him for many years, back to the days in Fort Wayne, and will miss that smile he always seemed to have and his personal brand of tireless optimism.  Leon was also a mentor to the younger generation and really enjoyed helping others learn and grow.  It’s hard to imagine coming back into the office without him being there.  We’ll miss him terribly and I’m so sorry for your loss.

My heartfelt condolences. It was so sad to hear of Leon’s passing. I met Leon at our Navistar Lisle location some years ago on a lunch break with John Pens and Arif Mirza. Leon was one of those people who immediately made you feel comfortable like you were an old friend. He always left you feeling upbeat after the time spent with him. I enjoyed the bantering between him, John and Arif. He was the person we all hope to be. I will miss his warm greetings. May God bless you and his family.

Vickie – I’m Vinay, currently situated in India. I was so shocked and saddened to hear of Leon's passing. I had telephonic conversation on Friday, Sep-11-2020 with him and we are going to speak again on Monday, but that never happened. Instead of his wishes I got the sad news.
Leon was a good friend, colleague, and more over my mentor. his loss will resonate deeply. I knew him for past 6 years as I started working with him as a part of Transmission Team at Lisle in Navistar. During this time I got to know Leon, he was the most kind, lovely and humble person I have ever met in my life. It’s difficult to say when & how he became the family friend and more than just colleague over the past 6-7 years. Everyone has some memories / moments / person in their life which they want cherish all the time & Leon had that place in my heart. I’m definitely going to miss his warm greetings and smile for rest of my life. Recently I lost my loving father in India, but loss of Leon is more wholehearted. For me he was a larger-than-life person.

May our Lord comfort you and your loved ones. I know that what you are going through right now is very difficult. I am truly sorry for your loss. I would like to offer you and your family our deepest and most sincere condolences and may the soul of Leon rest in peace.

Leon used to be my adjacent Cube neighbor at Navistar when our teams sat next to each other back in Building 9, Floor 2. While I never actually had the opportunity to work directly with Leon on projects, he always made a point to address me by my name, say Hello to me, and make me smile or laugh if he ever saw I was stressed. There are few, if any, other folks at Navistar who have made me feel as warm and as welcomed as Leon - he will truly be missed. My fondest condolences to the family and friends of Leon.

I know God was at the center of his life. I worked with Leon for about 10 years at Allison Transmission. He was like an older brother that you could laugh with and give you advice. I will really miss him. I am sure he is resting in a better place.

Vickie and Family, we were deeply saddened to hear of your loss.  Although we have not seen each other in years, we still have so many fond memories of our interactions with you, Leon, and the children.   I remember how excited I was when I heard the principal say that he was introducing a young teacher who was coming to us from NC my home.   I couldn’t wait to get to you after the meeting.  Our friendship began that day.  You guys were the last visitors in our home before we moved from Indianapolis.  We have so many fond memories that we will continue to cherish forever!  We will continue to pray for your family.   Leon has made that journey that we must all make one day to be with the LORD!

Vickie, I too worked with Leon at Navistar. He started in Fort Wayne a little while before my time at Navistar was ending. But after a little while, I actually came to Indianapolis and started at Allison. And through that role I reconnected with Leon, on occasion, as our paths crossed on various projects. But in my brief time working with Leon I really came to appreciate what a calming presence Leon was and how he was so much fun to be around. It's such a shocking and tragic thing that happened. My condolences and well wishes to you and your family, I can't imagine the hole that Leon will leave behind.

My deepest condolences to Leon’s family and all his friends

I had the privilege to work with Leon many years ago when I worked at one of our assembly facilities, and later in Lisle office.
He was always open to listen, to help, to learn.
He had many qualities, he was respectful, patience, humble, and warmhearted.
He had a great capacity for empathy, and makes you feel understood.
He uplift every person with his appreciation and honored other’s qualities, always seeing what was good in you and making you feel special.
He was present in the moment, paying attention to the ones around him.

As you can read and heard from many people, Leon was profoundly appreciated at the company, not only for his vast knowledge and hard work, but for his kind and great heart.

Thank you Leon for your smile, energy and generosity. For your appreciation of life and the joy that you emanated with your presence.
We will always treasured you as a very special person and as a role model of values and virtues. You will always be remembered, my dear friend.

I'm so sorry for your loss.  I met Leon during a difficult time in my life around 2015.  It didn't take long to realize that his positive attitude wasn't just a show, that man could find the light in any situation. I asked him how he stayed so positive on a walk around the Lisle lake and our conversation changed the way looked at the challenges I was facing.

He was the kind soul that I aspire to be and he will be dearly missed.

I am Leon's Aunt Ivey. After reading such wonderful condolences from his co-workers my heart felt the need to tell everyone that Leon always had a "bowl" of love when he visited us  in Charlotte and Florence, South Carolina. Sometimes he would give  a big tight hug like he was never going to let go. We all loved him and will always keep him in out hearts. On Saturdays we would get together on Zoom. It was absolutely  wonderful. Leon would sometimes close the zoom time by giving a soul felt prayer. We thank the Lord for him.

I worked with Leon in the Transmission team for most of his time at Navistar.  Leon truly was a servant of God and his beliefs shone in every interaction he had with his co-workers.  He was so cheerful that in 10 years I never saw him angry, and his honesty, decency and work ethic was an inspiration to me as a fellow Christian.  When he was working in Lisle one week a month over the last couple of years, I always looked forward to good conversations about what he was doing at home, and it was a lot. Leon will always be missed, but never forgotten.  My prayers go out to his family and friends as they grieve.  May the God whom Leon worshipped and the faithful life he lived comfort you and give you Peace, now and in the future.
