Rosie L Hopkins was born in Yahzoo City,  Mississippi to Gray and Minerva Hampton on March 13, 1924.  She was the youngest of six children.  They were a very close family.

At the age of fifteen, Rosie had her first-born daughter, Cherry.  She later married Willie James Hopkins in Midnight,  Mississippi. From this union she had another daughter, Ethel.  Even at an early age, she has always had a love for God and going to church. While in Mississippi, her church home was Love Feast Missionary Baptist Church.

Rosie worked as a cook for a prominent family for 15 years. In 1967, she left Mississippi and moved to Indianapolis, Indiana. She worked at Mechanic Laundry and Crown Laundry until 1978.  She then worked at the City County Building and retired at the age 62.  She became a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in 1970 under the supervision of Reverend Doctor H. T. Tolliver.

Rosie enjoyed cooking, sewing, attending church and watching television.  If you were in the house with her or on the phone while she was watching a show, you might as well been watching it too.  Most of all, she loved her family! For anyone who knew her, she was affectionately referred to as Moma Rosie.  She treated everyone she met as a friend.  Her memory will live on in the hearts of everyone and she will be missed by all.

Rosie was preceded in death by her daughter, Cherry K. Hill; sisters Mary Cooper, Lucille Scott, Estelle Griffin, Elizabeth Criss and Minnie Bee Mitchell.

Rosie leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Ethel  Hopkins; 15 grandchildren, Melinda, Brenda, Andrew (Lisa), Charles (Cathy), Larry, Gloria (Carl), Michael (Danielle), Anthony (Tanisha), Jamie (Felicia), Calvin (Heather), Tony (Lisa), Steve (Keonna), Harold, Reginald (Nakesha) and Angela (William);42 great grandchildren; 32 great-great grandchildren; nephews, nieces and a host of cousins, family, friends and church family.
