Jaylen Anthony Beatty was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on June 28, 2001. Jaylen, affectionately known as “Jay” to his parents, siblings, and friends, departed this life at the young age of 19 years old.

Jaylen attended Lighthouse Charter School and Job Corp Camp Atterbury where he studied auto mechanics among other trades. Upon completion, Jaylen went on to be employed at MDW Auto LLC where he very quickly became a star mechanic. “Jay” loved model and R/C cars but he especially loved "Real Cars". Whether it was paint, engines, or music, if it had to do with cars “Jay” loved it. “Jay”  also enjoyed many hobbies including video games.

“Jay”  was family-oriented, outgoing, and always had a smile on his face. To know “Jay”, was to love him, he knew people wherever he went. “Jay”  could upset you with his smart remarks or quick jokes but that could never eclipse his ability to light up a room with his smile and laugh which he will always be remembered by.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Herbert Bertram; great  uncles, Theron Hawkins Sr. and Dexter Cain; brother, Shaun Bertram;  aunt, Juile King, great-great grandfather; O'Bryant Eugene McQueen; great-great grandmother, Evelyn Bonds; great-grandmother Barbara Rasheed, great aunt Tehani West; and his best friend, Dana “Scrappy” Sharp, III.

He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Janice Bertram; father, Bryant Beatty, Sr.; grandmothers, Ramona Jones and Evelyn Porter; grandfather Henry Beatty; brothers, Bryant Beatty Jr. (Dior), Shaun Board, Jr, and Jashaun Board; sisters, Bryoshia Beatty (Kevin) and Zyian Beatty; nephews, Levi Beatty, Karter Harris, and Legend Beatty; and a host of uncles and aunts, other family members and friends.

A Child's Future & A Parent's Past

For A Parent the Death of a Child feels like the death of the  future

Yet for A Child the death of a Parent feels like the death of the past

But we should all find comfort that both the past and the future shall Carry-On.
