John P. McMillin affectionately known as “Johnny” was born on October 22, 1966 to the late John and Judith Brown McMillin Sr.. He confessed Jesus to be his Lord and Savior at New life Worship Center where he was baptized. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Kenya Stallworth McMillin on April 26, 2006.  Upon this union was a birth of a blended family of children, Justin McMillin, Alexis Taylor, and later John McMillin III was born.

Johnny graduated from Thomas Carr Howe High School. He joined the Events Men and Armor Bearer Ministry at New Life Worship Center where he was a faithful servant. He worked at Jackson Controls for 34 years as a loyal team member.

Johnny made it his priority to take care of his wife and children. He was affectionately called “Mr. Rogers” by his wife because his neighbors, friends, and family loved him so dearly. His loving disposition and smile are an attribute that is unforgettable.  He always checked on his friends and family and was a source of encouragement.  If you ever needed anything, he was always there to lend a hand. He was a quiet, loyal, humble soul that had a way of lighting up the room.

He was preceded in death by his son Justin McMillin. He leaves to cherish his memory wife, Kenya Stallworth McMillin, Alexis Taylor, and John McMillin III; sister, Marjorie Antoinette Hardaway,; brother, who is also named John McMillin (Kim); nephews that he loved and cared for as son’s, Vincent McMillin and Curtis Hardaway;  numerous nieces, nephews, a host of other relatives, church family, and special long life friends.

I was so saddened to hear of Johnny's passing. He was so kind and I was happy to have known him. May God grant you peace that passes all understanding. May it guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus. May you be comforted and strengthened throughout this difficult season.

I will always remember Johnny running up and down the basketball court, getting in the passing lanes to intercept passes and starting the fast break. But most importantly, I will always remember the kindness and respect that he treated everyone with. May God’s grace be showered over his family and friends to give strength and courage during these difficult times.

I just heard of Mr. Mcmillan’s passing. I met him when I worked with his son John at Maple Elementary . He was a very nice and kind man. My heart breaks for Kendra and the rest of the family. Prayers of comfort and peace to you all.
