Obituary

Mary Frances Mason was born on August 22, 1929 in Anderson, Indiana to Wilford and Mertis Miller who preceded her death.  After she graduated from Anderson High School, she moved to Indianapolis, Indiana and worked at General Hospital (Wishard) as a nurse’s aide. There she met the love of her life, Forest J. Mason and they married on October 17, 1952. Over the 65 years of their marriage, they welcomed nine children.

Mary was a God-fearing woman who deeply loved her family. She was a charter member of Christian Faith Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a deaconess, member of the choir, and an usher. In her free time, Mary enjoyed working puzzles, reading, and watching soap operas. She also loved gardening and cheering on the Indiana Pacers.

Mary was a kind, giving person who instilled love and wisdom to the people around her. Her smile and charming laugh will be remembered by all who knew her. She was always sure to spread happiness with her birthday phone calls always ending with, “I love you”.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Forest  Mason; son, William Rogers; and special nephew, David Mason.

Mary’s life and legacy is left to be cherished by her eight children, Michael Mason (Willa), Judy Mason (Alonzo), Donald Mason (Joyce), Frances Mason, Linda Mason-Wilson, Vincent Mason (Portia), Lisa Mason, Gary Mason (Tonya), 24 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
