"A Life Worth Living"

Rosa Marie Lane was born on Thursday November 21, 1946 to Shelton and Eunice Dickerson in Indianapolis, Indiana.  Rosie, as she  sometimes liked to be called, was the second born.  She lived all her life here in Indianapolis, Indiana. Rosie went to IPS School# 26 and# 45 leading to her graduating from Arsenal Technical High School in June of 1965.

Rosie met the love of her life, George A. Lane while attending high school.  Then on April 2, 1966 George and Rosa Lane united in marriage.  From that union they had two beautiful girls, Garla and Kara Lane.  Rosie and George celebrated 54 beautiful years together.  They had the type of bond that twins share.  When you see one, the other was not too far  behind.

Rosie enjoyed life and loved all those she knew.  Rosie had too many hobbies to count.  She loved to go to the casino/gambling and playing cards with family and friends just to mention a few. Rosie  was a Fashionista!!!  She loved clothes, shopping and most definitely LOVED to DRESS!!!  Rosie was famous for her recipes and loved to cook for her family as well as for others.  Please let us not forget, Rosie loved to dance and if she was coming to your party it was not a party until she got there where she lit up the room. But what was most beautiful was to watch    Rosie and George dance together ... True love in motion ...

Rosie found and committed herself to the Lord at an early age and was a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church.  She was an active member of the Hospitality Committee.   Rosie was always inviting family and friends to come worship with her.

Rosie as a founding member, had a passion for her social club "The Psychedelics "that was established in the early 70's.   Most recently, Rosie was a participating member of SSA Investment Club.

At the end of the day Rosie was a social butterfly. She is spreading her wings over us now ... always ... and forever.

Rosie worked as an educator at Grassy Creek Elementary School for 20 yrs. before retiring in 2009. During her time at Grassy Creek, classroom activities and tutoring the children were the              highlights of her tenure.

Rosa "Rosie" was preceded in death by father, Shelton Dickerson; her brother, Donald Dickerson and most recently her brother-in-law, Anthony Stevenson.

To cherish forever, the love of her life for 54 years her   wonderful husband, George A. Lane; mother, Eunice Dickerson;  her amazing daughters, Garla (Enos) Lane and Kara Lane; her granddaughters who affectionately called her "Granny", Bailey,     Devon and Kendall; brothers, William (Patricia) Dickerson,  Bennett (Fannie) Dickerson and sisters, Shirley Byers, Jacqueline Dickerson, Mary Stevenson, and Cynthia (Juan) Howard and one sister-in-law, Kelli Lane. Rosie also had three other sisters not from her mother whom she loved just as much, they are Linda Hams, Charlotte (Gee) Meyers and Sue (Harold) Woods, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.

To Our Loving Mother,

There will never come a day we will not miss hearing your voice, wish we could enjoy another meal together or seek your wisdom to help guide our lives.  You will forever be in our hearts and minds.

Love, Garla & Kara

She is clothed with strength and dignity, She can laugh at the days to come: Her children rise up and call her blessed, her husband also and he praises her, many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.

Proverbs 31: 25-28
