Obituary

          

David Williams, Sr. the son of the late Isaiah, Sr, and Bessie Williams was born on March 3, 1925 in Sharon, Mississippi.

 

On October 3, 1943.  He was united in Holy Matrimony to Willie L. Wilson.  This union was blessed with 11 children, seven boys and four girls.

 

In 1952, David, Willie and the first 5 children moved from Sharon, Mississippi to Evansville, Indiana.  While in Evansville, Indiana they had six more children.  In 1965, he and his family moved to Indianapolis, Indiana. David would later move to East Chicago, Indiana in 1970.  He resided there  until 2014, when he returned back to Indianapolis, Indiana, where he resided with his daughter Sallie until his death. David had a personal relationship with Christ and was an active member at Ebenezer Baptist Church in East Chicago, Indiana, serving on the usher board.  He united with Grace Missionary Baptist Church when he moved back to Indianapolis until his health prevented him from attending.

 

On any given day you could find him on the corner with his retired buddies.  He retired from Wonder Bread after 20 years.

 

One of his favorite past times was hunting.  He loved his family and for them to gather around him.

 

David Williams, Sr. departed this earthly life on Monday, July 13, 2020 at the age of 95 years, 4 months and 10 days.  He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, Anneice Williams and Aretha Williams; two sisters, Molly Smith and Julie Jones; one brother, Isaiah Williams, Jr.; 2 grandsons; a granddaughter; 2 great-grandsons and a great- great-granddaughter.

 

He leaves to cherish his memory, mother of his children, Willie L.  Williams; four daughters, Sallie (John)Caldwell, Bessie Bunton, Rose and Sherry Williams; seven sons, Roosevelt (Lulu), Mozell, David, Randy (Berdie), Arine (Tanya), Tony (Penny) and Terry (Cassandra) Williams; one stepdaughter, Aletha  Avington; two stepsons, Kenneth (Toni) and Leslie McGuire; one sister-in-law, Lenora Williams; forty-six grandchildren; one hundred fifty, great-grandchildren; fifty great-great- grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
